White City Council Suspends Police Chief, Officer
A called meeting by the White City Council late last week resulted in the suspension of two public safety employees, including the city’s top cop.
Police Chief David King and officer Blake Scheff were suspended with pay during a called meeting on Friday, according to The Daily Tribune News.
The suspension comes on the heels of a raid executed on Thursday at city hall and the police department by agents with the FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The search warrants that were executed, the GBI said, were “a result of an ongoing public corruption investigation.”
The GBI’s investigation was initiated on Oct. 28, 2015, at the request of the District Attorney’s Office regarding “allegations of extortion,” the agency said.
